Timer programs for turning off the computer according to time. Programs for automatically shutting down your computer Computer shutdown timer program windows 7

Functional features

  • turning off a computer device at a specific time with the ability to select it to perform an event;
  • setting up an early warning before turning off the PC;
  • cancellation of a scheduled event;
  • end of session;
  • disconnecting from the Internet;
  • sending the operating system into standby or hibernation mode;
  • protecting access to your computer using a password;
  • pausing or stopping the timer.

Advantages and disadvantages

The timer has the following advantages:

  • the ability to automatically turn off the PC;
  • a large number of different additional tasks;
  • Russian-language simple interface;
  • free access.
  • lack of a function to open files at a given time.

Alternatives

One of the most famous analogues of this software is PowerOff. It has more advanced functionality. In addition to setting the device to turn off and closing running applications, you can schedule various tasks using the built-in scheduler and daily planner. All events can be accompanied by sound, and you can also customize the indicator colors.

Work principles

The application looks like a small window that contains two drop-down lists. In the first, a specific action is selected: turning off or restarting the PC, putting it into sleep mode, ending a session, or disconnecting from the network.

Interface

In the second list you can set the time at which the task must be completed. For example, after a certain period or at a given minute. The process is started by clicking on the appropriate button.

Start a timer

In the utility you can configure autorun, check for current versions, set an access password, etc.:

Settings

This program is especially useful for those users who perform operations on the computer that take a long time: downloading data, capturing video, copying a movie to a flash drive, etc. In this case, you can start these operations and go about your business, and the timer will turn off the PC after their completion.

Nowadays, almost all devices are equipped with timers to turn off after a certain time. And the computer is no exception.

Computer shutdown timer a very useful function when you need to turn off the computer after a certain time, and you won’t be around. In this article, I described the two easiest ways to set a timer to turn off your computer using standard Windows 7 tools, without any third-party programs.

We set the computer shutdown timer in Windows 7 using the standard method.

You can set the time after which the computer will automatically turn off without using third-party programs, but using standard tools! To do this, press the combination Win+ R and in the “Run” window enter the command shutdown -s -t 3600.

(the computer will turn off in an hour).

3600 is the set timer value in seconds (3600s = 1 hour), you can set any value from 0 to 315360000 (10 years).

There are also others computer shutdown timers in the parameters of the shutdown command, which can reboot, end the session, put the computer into sleep or hibernation mode. To view the full list, press Win+R, enter cmd.exe , type in the command line window shutdown -? and press Enter:

For example:

shutdown -r -t 60— restart the computer after 60 seconds.

shutdown -s -t 600 turn off the computer after 600 seconds (5 minutes); shutdown -a— cancel the reboot/shutdown that was enabled by the previous commands.

shutdown -a put the computer into hibernation mode.

shutdown -r -t 1000 — restart the computer after 1000 seconds .

Computer shutdown timer in Windows 7 via scheduler:

1. Click the “Start” menu and enter “Scheduler” in the search bar.

2. The line “Task Scheduler” will appear, which is what we need to open.

3. In the left column of the task scheduler that opens, click on “Task Scheduler Library”, and in the right column - “Actions”, select “Create a simple task”.

4. Give a name in the “Name” column, and then click the “Next” button.

5. In the new window, you need to set the period, for example, “Daily” and click “Next” 3 times.

6. In the next window - “Program or script”, enter the “shoutdown” command, and in the “Add arguments” field write “-s -f” without quotes.

There are also quite a lot of third-party programs that allow you to set a timer to turn off the computer, but I believe that standard tools are quite sufficient. They are as simple and safe as possible, unlike third-party software.

In the previous article I showed how to plan. But to simplify the task, I will give several computer shutdown timer programs.

Wise Auto Shutdown for Windows 7/8/10

A simple but powerful program that allows you to set the computer shutdown time.
You can choose the exact time, a reverse timer, daily or when the computer is idle. The latter is useful when you need to wait for a resource-intensive task to complete.

In addition to shutting down, you can choose from: reboot, log out (logout), sleep and wait (hibernation). I never turn off my laptop, I prefer. In this case, when I turn on the laptop, I immediately get the current desktop with all open programs.

In hibernation mode, the contents of RAM are flushed to the hard drive, but not in sleep mode. And if the power goes out or the battery runs out, then when you turn on the computer, a new Windows boot will begin, and all unsaved data will be lost. After waking up from hibernation, you will in any case get the same desktop.

Harvester PowerOff

I have been using this program for many years and I like it. PowerOff does not require installation and works immediately after downloading. Although it has not been updated for a long time, nevertheless, all functions work perfectly. At first it may seem that the program is complicated, but it is not necessary to delve into all the functions, of which there are many:

  • Computer shutdown timer by time or schedule
  • Selecting an action after an event is triggered
  • Winamp, CPU and Internet-dependent timers
  • Built-in diary
  • Built-in task scheduler
  • Controlling the program using hotkeys
  • WinAmp program management
  • Autorun with Windows

By default, everything is configured normally, you can not change anything, but use the program right away. To turn on a regular timer, just a couple of clicks are enough.

To make the computer turn off after a specified time, check the “Countdown” checkbox. To the right of the words “Timer started” is written the amount of time left until the event is triggered. To trigger at the exact time, check the “Trigger time” checkbox and set the desired time.

Sometimes you don’t know when the computer needs to turn off or you’re too lazy to count. For this case, PowerOff provides several options.

CPU-dependent timer

If your computer needs to shut down after completing a resource-intensive task.

  • on the right we indicate the percentage of maximum load
  • set “CPU load recording time”.

Now, if the computer is loaded less than you specified for the specified time, it will turn off.

Internet - dependent timer

To turn off after downloading large files from the Internet.

  • Check the box “Get statistics”
  • select the network interface to be monitored, for example Wi-Fi
  • then WHAT to consider, for example “Incoming traffic speed”
  • and minimum speed threshold
  • and also enter the number of seconds or minutes in the “Fix speed for” parameter.

Now, if the incoming speed is fixed for a specified time less than we specified, the work will shut down.

WinAmp - dependent timer

A very useful feature for those who like to fall asleep to their favorite music and at the same time use the WinAmp player. Just check the box “Trigger after playing” and set how many tracks you want to play, or after the last track. This feature can also be used by Foobar2000 users. For this, there is a special plugin for Foobar2000 “WinAmp API Emulator”, which makes other applications think that it is WinAmp.

Today, most video and audio players have an automatic shutdown function, look for it in the interface and settings.

You can mark at least all the methods, then the shutdown will occur when the first event is reached.

When such a window appears, you can still stop the computer shutdown process. The value in seconds is set in the program settings. There you can enable autorun and see other settings.

In addition to shutting down, you can choose another action:

  • To restart a computer
  • Go to sleep mode
  • Lock your computer
  • End the current user session
  • Disconnect (break) network connection
  • Remotely shut down another computer
  • Send a command over the network

You can also plan a schedule for each day, but you’ll figure it out for yourself.

TimePC can also turn on your computer!

A simple program that can turn off and start programs. Or rather, not turn it off, but put it into deep sleep mode (hibernation) and return it back. At the same time, all running programs continue to work the next time you turn them on.

If the fans continue to make noise when switching to sleep mode, then this is not deep sleep, but normal sleep. On older computers, to enable deep sleep, you need to configure the BIOS to.

If the computer does not turn on according to the timer, then check the Windows 7/10 setting in “Control Panel –> Power Options –> Set up power plan (current) –> Change advanced power settings –> Sleep –> Allow wake timers -> Enable”. The value must be included.

In the program settings you can set autorun along with Windows and several other parameters

There is also a built-in weekly planner

Now let's look at a few simple programs that are convenient to use if you don't need all these functions.

Can turn off, restart and put the computer into sleep mode using a timer. Ignore the year of development.

Among the distinctive features of the program:

  • Smoothly mutes sound
  • Forcefully terminates the selected process
  • You can create a shortcut on your desktop that will launch the program with the selected options
  • No installation required

Lim Timer Off

A very simple and understandable utility that only knows how to turn off the computer at a specified time, forcibly ending all running programs.

Before automatic shutdown, a window appears in which you can cancel the action within 10 seconds.

SMTimer is another simple utility

Minimalism and nice design. The self-shutdown time is set using sliders.

Most likely, you have already read my previous one about how to set up automatic shutdown of your computer using standard means, in relation to Windows 7. But in nature there are many programs and utilities designed specifically for such purposes, designed to simplify the user’s life and eliminate the need to delve into system settings. Among all this software, there is sure to be a program that will satisfy all your requirements, because there are enough of them, from the simplest timers to entire software complexes. Let's walk through a few of the most popular ones, from more complex to simpler.

Program to turn off your computer

At first glance, this program may seem overly complex and sophisticated to you due to the many tabs, windows, buttons and settings. But the devil is not as scary as he is painted - this is, firstly (I don’t think it will cost you much effort to figure everything out), and secondly, no one is forcing you to use all the functions of this program. On the start tab “Timers” we can select the required action (turn off the computer, sleep, standby or reboot) and configure its main parameters.

In the “Standard Timer” block, you can select the desired action from three proposed options: turning off the computer at a strictly specified time (with a date), at the end of the countdown timer (you can set a specific time) and after a specified time of system inactivity.

On the top right is the “Winamp’ dependent timer” block. This option suggests performing a specified action depending on the current state of the Winamp multimedia player, either after a specified number of tracks played or upon completion of the last file in the playlist. I would also like to note that this feature can be available not only to users of Winamp, but also to the respected player Foobar 2000. For this purpose, the corresponding “Winamp API Emulator” plugin was written. This feature in Power Off should appeal to supporters of going to bed with musical accompaniment.

Just below we see the “CPU dependent timer” block. From the very name of the block its purpose becomes clear. Depending on the CPU load level and the load fixation time (both parameters can be set here), the program will perform the specified action, turn off the computer, for example. If you've ever had to do something as time-consuming and processor-intensive as video transcoding, then I'm sure you'll appreciate this Power Off feature. Now you can go to the bedroom without worrying about your computer running - the program will turn it off automatically as soon as the recoding process is completed and the CPU load drops below the level you specify for a certain time.

The lowest block “Internet dependent timer” is very useful when there is a need for long-term downloading of files from the Internet. Depending on the speed of passing traffic, the program can take a certain action. Now, when all your downloads are completed and for a specified time the traffic speed is lower than the one you set, the program will automatically turn off (or put into sleep mode) the computer.

Time PC can put the computer to sleep and then wake it up in time.

Small, but no less useful timed computer shutdown program, which can put the computer into hibernation at a given time, and then wake it up in accordance with the schedule. The Time PC program has a built-in seven-day scheduler, and there is an autoload function along with the system.

Smoothly go to sleep with the Sleep Timer 2007 program

One of the small programs with little functionality and does not require installation. Its capabilities include the following:
- after the specified time has elapsed, shutdown the computer, restart it or put it into sleep mode
— forced termination of specified processes
— smooth decrease in volume of the playing track
— launch with specified parameters via a shortcut
