Social networks for gamers Belarus. What social networks do Belarusians like? What do Belarusians look for on the Internet when they enter the phrase “social network” into the search?

According to the results of a study by analysts of the investor magazine “Stock Leader”, Odnoklassniki was named the most popular social network in Belarus.

The Internet and social projects today are becoming increasingly popular among residents of Russia and the CIS countries; they open up a new world of communication with friends, family and loved ones. For most users, the network is a tool for finding new acquaintances or business partners. Which of the well-known social networks can be called the most popular today? This was found out by analysts in the “Russian News” and “Internet News” sections of the “Stock Leader” magazine for investors.

  • How does the Yandex.Direct tool estimate the frequency of words,
  • frequency of mentions of the social network in virtual publications and Belarus,
  • region of analysis.

As a result, the Odnoklassniki service became the most popular site. It is followed by the social network VKontakte with video hosting YouTube. Also in the top ten were the social networks “My World”, Facebook, “Mamba”, Twitter, “LiveJournal”, Loveplanet and Badu.

It is interesting that, according to research by the Exchange Leader, residents of Belarus are less likely to be interested in social networks than residents of Russia, but more often than, for example, residents of Ukraine, Abkhazia and Moldova. The popularity of the social networks discussed above directly depends on the rating of demand for such resources on the Internet.
As we can see from the table data:

- residents of Russia with a population of 143.4 million people. searched 5,023,543 times;

— residents of Belarus with a population of 9,464,000 people. – 72,576 times;

— residents of Ukraine with a population of 45,590,000 people – 340,723 times;

- residents of Abkhazia with a population of 240,705 people - 1,301 times.

The study included only those social networks that were mentioned in the media less than 10 times a month. Thus, in November 2014, the media were practically not interested in such social resources: “It’s a Small World”, “My Circle”, “Hydepark”, “Dairy”, “Mamba”, “Ya.ru”, “Blog.ru”, “Beon” ", "Loveplanet", "Badoo", "Travian", "Myspace", "Friendster".

The most effective PR in Runet can be calculated using the following formula: the number of search queries divided by the number of mentions in the media for the same month. Only indicators over 10 media outlets per month are taken into account. The following social networks have the highest efficiency ratio this month: “My World”, “Odnoklassniki”, “YouTube”, “Vkontakte”, “LiveJournal”, “LinkedIn”, “Facebook”, “Habrahabr”, “Twitter”, “Flickr” ", "AlterGeo", "Blogger".

Today, social networks are becoming more and more popular, gradually replacing print media. After all, they open up a world of new opportunities for users for limitless communication. In addition, social resources help corporations maintain contact with potential clients and partners, improve ratings, increase sales, manage the company's reputation and solve other business development tasks.

Rating of the most popular social networks in Belarus.

The rating of the popularity of social networks in Russia was compiled by analysts from Exchange Leader based on 3 basic criteria:
- assessment of the frequency of words for Yandex.Direct for the month, calculated using the wordstat.yandex.ru service;
- frequency of mentions of the social network in Russian online publications, calculated using the aggregator news.yandex.ru (Yandex.News);
- region of analysis (and therefore search in the wordstat.yandex.ru service) - Belarus.

The first place in the ranking of the most popular social networks in Belarus belongs toOdnoklassniki network, which is the best assistant in finding classmates, classmates, relatives and friends. Here participants can share information about themselves, exchange messages and contacts, have conversations, comment on photos, etc.

In the second position of the rating -social network VKontakte", created initially for graduates and students of higher educational institutions and later turned into a “modern and fast way of communication.” In just a couple of minutes you can create a page online and start communicating with other users. You can also manage access settings, monitor the activity of groups and friends through the news feed.

The third place in the popularity ranking is occupied by the YouTube video hosting service. which allows you to view, comment, add videos. The site presents both amateur videos and professionally shot films and video blogs.

Social networks are the leaders of PR in Internet media.

Electronic publications now have a strong influence on people: every day, millions of users search for the latest news here. Printed resources can influence only a limited circle of readers, while information that is distributed online is accessible to almost everyone. And social networks also need to pay attention to PR in electronic media, because this way you can create a positive image. Which of the well-known social resources are aware of the need for PR in the mass media of Belarus?

Belarusians are interested in social networks less often than residents of Russia, but more often than residents of Ukraine.

The popularity of the social services we mentioned directly depends on the popularity of networks in general on the Internet. Here in recent months we have seen a slight increase in indicators:

Residents of Russia are much more likely than residents of Belarus, Ukraine, Abkhazia, and Moldova to be interested in social networks on the Internet, which is clearly seen from the following table showing the statistics of search queries in wordstat.yandex.ru when converted per 1 thousand population:

As we can see from the table data, Belarusians entered the search query “social network” in Yandex 67,414 times in September 2014, according to data from the wordstat.yandex.ru service. For comparison:

Residents of Russia with a population of 143.4 million people. searched 4,528,287 times;
- residents of Ukraine with a population of 45,590,000 people - 302,732 times;
- residents of Abkhazia with a population of 240,705 people - 1,373 times.

The largest number of requests per thousand population is in Moscow and the Moscow region, where there are 19,930,000 people. made 730,110 requests.

What do Belarusians look for on the Internet when they enter the phrase “social network” into the search?

When searching for “social network,” residents of Belarus are most often interested in specific resources and their features, which is confirmed by the following search queries wordstat.yandex.ru:
- social networks - 67,420 requests;
- Odnoklassniki social network - 31,698 requests;
- VKontakte social network - 21,265 requests.

Which social networks have been ignored by the media in Belarus?

The list includes only those social resources that online publications have never mentioned over the past month, which, according to experts, is considered a critical point for their promotion.

Many social networks do not care at all about their PR promotion on the Internet. Over the past month, the media has made little mention of the following resources: "LinkedIn", "Flickr", "Hydepark", "It's a Small World", "My World", "Mamba", "My Circle", "Badoo", "Habrahabr", " Myspace", "AlterGeo", "Ya.ru", "Friendster", "Loveplanet", "Dairy", "Beon", "Travian", "Blog.ru".

Which social networks in Belarus have the most effective PR on the Internet?

The most effective PR on the global network can be calculated using the following formula: the number of requests divided by the number of mentions in electronic publications for the same month. Only indicators of 10 mentions in online publications per month are taken into account.

The following social networks have the highest efficiency ratio: “Odnoklassniki”, “My World”, “Mamba”, “Twitter”, “Facebook”, “YouTube”, “LiveJournal”.

Belarusians, as before, are conservative in their choice of social networks and similar Internet resources.

This fact was once again confirmed by a recent study by the Ignite Social Media agency, specializing in global marketing research of mass communications.

About sixty social networks came to the attention of experts. Of the seven positions chosen by Ignite Social Media for its measurements, the most interesting and revealing, it seems, are two: the regions of the greatest activity of users of a particular social network and the cities in which it dominates. The analysis is mainly based on the number of Google queries.

It is striking that out of all the wealth of choice, Belarus is clearly represented (that is, included in the top 21) in only four network nominations. True, in some of them she unexpectedly takes a leading position.

Belarusians really love free content. Particularly musical. This is evidenced by the honorable 11th place in the list of fans of the music lovers portal Last.fm. Here our compatriots confidently lined up behind Great Britain and left Sweden, Russia and even the USA behind.

Belarusians are creative people and tend to write personal blogs. 3rd place in the general Livejournal list! Only Russia and Singapore are ahead, which is generally extremely active on the Internet.

Belarusians value communication with familiar and unfamiliar people, as well as with citizens whom they have never seen. 10th place in the Odnoklassniki regional top is proof of this. Here Belarus is entrenched between Kyrgyzstan and Israel.

The same can be said about another popular Cyrillic social network - VKontakte. And it looks like it’s time to move the office of this company to the capital Sineokoy, since among cities Minsk confidently holds the first position in the number of VKontakte users. The administrative center of Belarus is inferior to Kyiv (with Ukraine first in the regional sample), St. Petersburg and Moscow.

Belarusians are not yet very active in such a network monster as Facebook. They ignore My space, Flickr and other similar resources for exchanging information (by the way, the same can be said about the rest of the countries of the former USSR).

Domestic Internet surfers have also not yet appreciated the capabilities of such fashion brands as Google+ and Twitter.

However, as for Google’s brainchild, it seems that it is used entirely in Asian countries. The leaders are Nepal, India and Bangladesh.

But the main surprise is the more than modest presence of Belarus, like other post-Soviet countries, on the YouTube portal. This may be due to the report's methodology.

These data are also largely confirmed by the latest measurement of the Internet audience in Belarus from the Gemius Agency for Online Research of Central and Eastern Europe. Domestic users really trust trusted resources more, are not too keen on fashion and prefer the by and ru zones.

In conclusion, a few facts. According to the latest data from Gemius, the audience of the global network in Belarus numbers about 4.3 million regular users, that is, almost 50% of Belarusians surf the Internet more or less regularly.

Turkey, Belarus and Ukraine lead the ranking of the youngest (15 to 34 years old) Internet audiences among Eastern and Central European countries. For Belarus, this figure is 60.9% and is only slightly lower than the other two countries (Turkey - 63.6%, Ukraine - 61.3%).

Belarus also ranks 3rd among the top countries in the region with the most educated web users. 36.5% of them have higher education. Ukraine is in first place (41.2%), Romania is in second (38.1%).

Social media expert laboratory “Word of Mouth Radio” has published a ranking of the TOP 20 most visited international social networks by Internet users from Belarus, and a ranking of social networks in Belarus, the top twenty of Web 2.0 Bynet.

The TOP 20 social networks visited in Belarus were 13 Russian and 7 American social networks, reports the press center www.SarafannoeRadio.org.

While Russians watch YouTube, Belarusians read Wikipedia. The reasons for this may be different: from a greater desire for knowledge in Belarus, to better quality and speed of the Internet in Russia, which makes it possible to watch more videos on YouTube. This is also evident from the situation with RuTube.

Belarus vs Russia:

Wikipedia - Youtube

Facebook - Blogger

Twitter — RuTube

MySpace - Beon

Mamba - Dairy

My circle is a small world

In Belarus, Internet users are more open to new products and innovations. In Russia, users often choose the national one, even if the foreign one has better service. In Belarus, they master Twitter faster, and they like the American MySpace more than the Russian Beon.

Belarus is the only country where the two leading social networks LiveJouranl (LJ) and Odnoklassniki keep pace, overtaking each other on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. The difference of several hundred, sometimes dozens of daily visits to these two social networks by users from Belarus, constantly changes the ranking picture.

As part of compiling the ranking of the TOP 20 most visited international social networks, social media expert Laboratory Word of mouth Radio compiled a rating of social networks in Belarus. They are significantly inferior in popularity and attendance to Russian and American social networks.

Communication on social networks has long become commonplace for modern Internet users. In the vastness of the global web, people solve many issues, share their experiences, demonstrate joyful moments, and follow the events taking place in the lives of their family and friends. This demand for social networks has not gone unnoticed by software developers. It’s not surprising, because everyone wants to promote their product, get a decent profit and universal recognition.

We present the rating of the most popular social networks that have a large audience of users in the world for 2017. In the ranking, I mainly refer to statistics from gs.statcounter.com, which tracks such sites as: Google+, LinkedIn, Facebook, StumbleUpon, YouTube, Twitter, reddit, Digg, MySpace, NowPublic, iWiW, orkut, Fark, Delicious, VKontakte, Hi5, Yahoo! Buzz, Vimeo, Mixx, FriendFeed, Hyves, Bebo, Tuenti, Kaboodle, Odnoklassniki. To learn more about their methodology, go to.

Since some sites (for example, Odnoklassniki), taking into account their methodology, do not fall into the charts, the article will also use statistics for the Runet gs.seo-auditor.com.ru. Attention! Their statistics vary greatly. This is due to different methodology. The former measure social media usage based on page views (rather than unique visitors).

The second graph shows the numbers as of June 2017:

We see that the VKontakte indicator has dropped significantly. Interestingly, according to these statistics, Twitter took its place. See how the statistics changed during the year.

TOP popular social platforms in Russia

As of June 2017:

According to gs.seo-auditor.com.ru, whose methodology is different, the popularity figures as a percentage are:

The most popular social networks in Belarus

There are also two leaders in Belarus: VKontakte and Facebook.

Moreover, at the end of the year, VK lost to FB and they swapped places.

Statistics on the popularity of social networks in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's users spend most of their time on Facebook:

Moreover, VKontakte also lost a little position here at the end of the year:

Kazakh Internet users are consistently loyal to the video aggregator Youtube.

Figures and trends in the World

The permanent world leader in statistics gs.statcounter.com is Facebook again:

Pinterst takes second place and is actively gaining popularity, primarily due to its new feature.

Twitter is as always positively stable. Although his news feed is much more attractive now.

According to the table, the number of network users around the world per month is:

Social network Monthly Visitors
Facebook 2,000,000,000
YouTube 1,000,000,000
Instagram 700,000,000
Twitter 313,000,000
Reddit 250,000,000
Vine (In January 2017, The Vine became the Vine Camera) 200,000,000
Pinterest 150,000,000
Ask.fm 160,000,000
Tumblr 115,000,000
Flickr 112,000,000
Google+ 111,000,000
LinkedIn 106,000,000
VK 90,000,000
ClassMates 57,000,000
Meetup 30,300,000

As you can see, the leaders have a big lead.

Facebook

Almost 2 billion visitors per month.

The social network, founded by young businessman Mark Zuckerberg, is a confident leader among similar services. Every month, about two billion people from different parts of the planet use this resource for various purposes. Such demand among the world's population obliges Facebook to adapt to each user. Therefore, today there are more than 60 language versions of this web resource so that people from different countries have the opportunity to communicate with each other. Despite any ups and downs and financial crises, Facebook is successfully developing, attracting an increasing number of subscribers. And the founder of the Internet network, taking advantage of the growing popularity of his brainchild, never tires of donating the proceeds to charity, thereby further winning the love of Internet users.

Twitter

(more than 300 million visits per month)

Interest in Twitter is explained by the ease of use of this service, as well as the speed of display of messages. There is nothing easier than registering on a social network page and immediately getting into the thick of things, learning the latest news, sharing your opinions with other people, etc. Twitter was founded two years later than Facebook, but is already confidently breathing down the back of the recognized leader. This social network is popular in many countries of the world, not only in the vast expanses of post-Soviet states, but also far beyond their borders.

Linkedin

(more than 100 million users per month)

This web-based system is especially in demand among businessmen. This love of entrepreneurs from all over the world can be explained quite simply: using this online resource, you can successfully promote your business, make useful contacts, look for employees in different parts of the world, and also receive orders from partners living far from them. Here you can easily post your resume or job advertisement, find companies whose job profile matches your interests, and much more.

Pinterest

(approximately 150,000,000 monthly)

In this ranking of world leaders, Pinterest occupies a worthy position. Although, according to the number of Pinterest users in the 7th position in the table, it is quickly gaining popularity. And most likely, residents of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries will soon include this social network in the leading list, since it has sufficient potential.

Instagram

700,000,000 visitors visit Instagram every month.

The Instagram resource gained popularity thanks to the thoughtful management of Facebook owners. They were the ones who bought the rights to this social network and made it one of the favorites.

In addition to those already mentioned, I would like to pay special attention to other social services that are included in some lists of the most popular social networks. We are talking about the Youtube web resource (a billion registered users), which ranks second. In addition, it is worth mentioning VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, one of the most favorite communication platforms used by residents of the CIS countries. Now Ukraine is not included in their list, since the mentioned social networks are blocked by providers on the territory of the state; such a decree was signed by the president of the country.

It is also worth mentioning Viber, WhatsApps, Telegram and other social resources, which are present in various ratings.

A large selection of all kinds of social networks forces their owners to constantly develop, and users only benefit from such competition. The main thing is that the competition is fair and healthy, using only open (and legal) methods of fighting for a place in the sun. And consumers will decide for themselves which social network to give preference to.
