To solve the problem, special browser extensions, applications or web services for recognizing fonts from images are used.
Search by image
The project was created by one of the largest font suppliers (myfonts.com), so it is very popular in this niche. You just need to upload (or drag and drop) a PNG or JPG image with a font, after which the system will select the most suitable options from a database of 133 thousand styles.
The service has a much larger knowledge base than the previous one - there are 550 thousand commercial and free shrits. A special form allows not only uploading an image, but also simply indicating a link to it. Artificial intelligence is used to find matches, and in the end you will be shown about 60 possible solutions!
Compared to its competitors, it has more advanced functionality - it can recognize OpenType fonts and also contains clarifying tags that allow you to narrow the selection of results. The site has an option to purchase materials if necessary, but the identification chip itself is free.
Text Tools
A service called uses another interesting approach to solving the problem. Instead of uploading images, here you are asked to answer several guiding questions about the font you are looking for: the presence of serifs, the format of the letters “J”, “Q” and the “$” symbol, etc.
This whole process initially seems quite complicated, but it has 2 undeniable advantages: it is suitable if you do not have an original image with the desired typography; can lead you to very unexpected pleasant options that you didn’t even think about initially.
The site is useful if you are trying to find out online a serif font from the Serif family. And this service did an excellent job, correctly guessing the font. The only drawback of the What The Font site is the smaller number of fonts compared to WhatFontIs.

These were services that determine the font from the picture. However, there are sites where font search works based on individual distinctive elements.
If you know exactly what a font looks like, if you have sample letters, then you can do a little test on the appearance of the font and find its name.
