When will the new xiaomi come out. Xiaomi smartphones - news, reviews and testimonials. Review of Mi8

The Xiaomi brand continues to gain popularity in the global smartphone market, and the secret of its success is so simple that it couldn’t be simpler - an extremely low price with decent quality. The Chinese manufacturer asks ridiculous money for its phones, and its budget line has virtually no competition today. At the same time, every year Xiaomi adds new models to several of its lines at once, and therefore even ardent fans of these phones get lost in numerous specifications, new obscure abbreviations and radically different reviews on the Internet. Therefore, the best Xiaomi smartphones and phablets already released in 2018-2019 were collected into one rating, “diluted” with one very anticipated model...

10 Redmi 5 Plus (2017) - The best ratio of price and quality

Many market experts rate it as the best budget smartphone of early 2018. The classic display format has been replaced by a cinematic 18:9 with beautiful corner roundings. In relation to Redmi 5, the display was enlarged, and the internal “filling” was borrowed from Note 4X. To support long-term operation of the 6-inch screen on a single charge, a 4000 mA battery was installed. The volume of built-in memory is from 32 to 64 GB, RAM is 3 or 4 GB. The manufacturer equipped the model with a Snapdragon 625 chip with a clock frequency of up to 2 GHz, which is quite enough to perform many everyday tasks.

Together with Redmi 5, the 5 Plus phone has become one of the best-selling phones in the budget segment.

  • Beautiful design, although no different from other Xiaomi models.
  • Pleasant to hold in hand, high quality materials and workmanship.
  • Long battery life (with active use, the charge lasts for 2-3 days).
  • Screen aspect ratio 18:9.
  • Low cost.
  • The camera is rather weak, but for such a price it’s quite good.
  • No headphones included.

9 Redmi 6 Pro (2018) - with face unlock function

With a 19:9 widescreen aspect ratio, the Redmi 6 Pro is slightly larger than the classic 5.5-inch gadget. The dual camera has electronic stabilization and focusing. Like Redmi 5 Plus, the smartphone architecture is built on Snapdragon 625 with reduced power consumption. In terms of technical parameters, it is completely similar to the Mi A2 Lite, with the only difference being that the latter comes with “pure” Android.

Redmi 6 Pro became the first “state smartphone” with a cutout (“eyebrow”) on the display; it is distinguished by its low price, compactness and balanced parameters. Of the minuses, there is a noticeable bias towards simplifications, compared to Redmi 5.

  • Quite a good phone in terms of characteristics.
  • Fast camera focusing.
  • Battery capacity 4000 mAh.
  • Low cost.
  • “Unibrow” overlaps part of the status bar.
  • Before purchasing, pay attention to the firmware.

8 Mi 6X (2018) - high performance, beautiful design

The beloved Snapdragon 625 processor has been replaced here by the more productive Snapdragon 660, which is currently almost as good as top-end “stones”, for example, the 835. In games like Real Racing 3 and World of Tanks Blitz you can feel close to 60 FPS (frames per second), and in PUBG you can actually achieve quite acceptable performance on average graphics.

Mi 6X is an all-metal body, a good camera with 4K video recording, slow motion and timelapse, but at the same time not the best sound (with artifacts), lack of NFC, low battery life (only 3000 mAh) - about a day at average load level.

A nice feature is the presence of Quick Charge 3.0, i.e. The smartphone will require 80 minutes to be fully charged from an eligible device. A suitable option for those who care about performance, but do not care too much about battery life and such little things as, for example, an unsightly protruding camera module.

  • The phone gives 140300 points in AnTuTu Benchmark.
  • Large 6 inch screen.
  • High quality camera.
  • It fits comfortably in the hand, the body is solid.
  • The battery power is not enough for heavy games and discharges quickly.
  • The camera sticks out a little, you can accidentally snag it.

7 Xiaomi Mi Note 3 (2017) - good battery life, NFC

Despite the fact that this smartphone was released back in 2017, it simply has to be in this rating. Some call it the most underrated smartphone of our time, others call it the strangest. The old screen format is still retained here, but NFC and a fingerprint scanner have already been introduced, and the 8-core Snapdragon 660 with 6 GB of RAM and the Adreno 512 video adapter provide ample performance for most tasks. There are no problems with the frame rate even in “Tanks” at maximum graphics; the camera is good, but it can’t even come close to the flagship ones, for example, in the Galaxy Note 8.

On one charge, with very active use, Xiaomi Mi Note 3 will easily last a day and a half. Quick Charge option available. Mi Note 3 is almost similar to Mi 6, but the larger diagonal is a factor in favor of the “note”.

  • A powerful and fast processor that practically does not heat up even in demanding games.
  • The battery charge lasts for 1.5-2 days.
  • The camera takes excellent pictures in daylight.
  • Fast charging function.
  • The case is quite slippery; it fits comfortably in the hand only in the case (included).
  • Few settings for video recording.
  • There is no slot for a memory card.

6 Xiaomi Mi Max 3 (2018) - huge screen, multimedia

One of, if not the most anticipated phablet of the summer of 2018. It’s hard not to understand the brand’s adherents when for just twenty you can get a clear 6.9-inch FullHD screen, a dual Sony camera, and a 5500 mAh battery. There shouldn’t be any questions regarding memory issues as such - 4/6 GB of RAM and 64/128 built-in.

Xiaomi did not do without pleasant surprises - Mi Max 3 can be used as a Powerbank. If your tablet or second smartphone is dead, Xiaomi will solve this problem. In addition, compared to Mi Max 2, the screen here has become noticeably brighter.

We managed to keep the price tag low by saving on the chip. The Snapdragon 636 processor still covers the requirements of most games, but does not compare to the new CPUs used in flagship devices.

  • Great screen. Bright and rich picture.
  • Takes decent photos during the day and evening.
  • Performance is sufficient for most modern games and applications.
  • The battery lasts about 2-3 days.
  • No NFC.
  • The power button is located inconveniently.
  • Slippery body, better to carry in a case.

5 Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 (2018) - selfie camera, Snapdragon 845

Frameless smartphones from the Mi Mix line made a real splash in the market, but at the same time many complained about the latest model. And very soon a representative of the third generation will appear. What should the consumer expect - carefully carried out work on errors or a completely new device?

The 6-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2160x1080 can cover up to 97% of the front of the device! A 16 megapixel dual camera with background blur will also be implemented. The design of the body is in strict accordance with the latest trends: metal + glass. A fingerprint scanner is expected directly under the screen, but such technology is no longer new. It is known that many modifications will be released with different amounts of RAM, internal and external memory, as well as with batteries of different capacities.

  • Powerful processor and large amount of memory (8/256 GB).
  • Large battery capacity (5400 mAh).
  • Dual camera (12 and 5 megapixels).
  • Frameless screen.
  • Not found yet.

4 Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 64GB (2018) - universal recognition

This smartphone has already been called the new king of 6-inch smartphones, and in general it is the most popular and most purchased Xiaomi smartphone in Russia (according to Yandex-Market). 95% of the recommendations for purchase are definitely worth attention. The narrow-frame FullHD display runs on Android 8.1 OS, has 64 GB of internal memory and 4 GB of RAM. Already customary for Chinese smartphones, not only for Xiaomi, but also, for example, for Meizu, the memory card slot is combined with a slot for a second SIM.

The 8-core Snapdragon 636 is good, but not ideal, although the Note 5 beats its “relative” Redmi 5 Plus (on Snap 625) in all respects.

Interestingly, Redmi Note 5 has one of the 5 most powerful batteries for smartphones on the market. The capacity is 4,000 mAh, which, with an economical SoC chip, gives excellent “autonomy” results (according to UL Benchmarks - 14 hours). Judging by customer reviews, under high load it can last 2 days without recharging.

Another plus: good, sane sound, support for all the necessary “wireless frequencies”, high-quality hardware platform. Of the minuses: lack of NFC and Type C.

  • Bright and clear screen, good visibility even in the sun.
  • The camera allows you to capture the world around you as accurately as possible.
  • The battery lasts up to 2 days in normal mode.
  • Gesture control.
  • Facial recognition doesn't work well on the street.
  • It is difficult to use a smartphone with one hand.

3 Pocophone F1 6/64GB (2018) - "flagship" characteristics at an average price

The first smartphone from the Xiaomi sub-brand went on sale in Russia on August 30th. At the time of compiling the rating, there were quite a few reviews on the Internet about the operation of this device, but its technical data is amazing.

The frameless IPS display has a resolution of 2246x1080 pixels, memory - 4GB/64GB, and a slot for microSD. The smartphone runs on the advanced Snapdragon 845 chip, which is why it demonstrates impeccable performance. With a battery capacity of 4000 mAh, the Pocophone can last a long time on one charge, and with Quick Charge 3.0 technology it also charges quickly.

All modern features are provided: Gorilla Glass, face and finger scanner, Bluetooth v 5.0, 2 lenses, 4K shooting, noise reduction, optical stabilization, etc. The main camera here is double - 12 + 5 Mpx, selfie camera - 20 Mpx.

Are you afraid of breaking your expensive smartphone? Buy the armored version of Pocophone F1 with a protected case.

  • Top processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.
  • High-quality IPS display that won't tire your eyes.
  • With active use, the battery lasts 1 day.
  • Reasonable price for such characteristics.
  • No NFC.

2 Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S 6/64GB (2018) - all the best in one smartphone

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 was perfect in almost everything. But its main problem was its modest, very modest in relation to other characteristics, cameras. And even optical stabilization did not save the overall picture. The Mi Mix 2 shot no better than your average budget smartphone. Recently, the leadership in terms of camera quality has rightfully been taken by the Huawei P20 along with the P20 Pro, but they are also prohibitively expensive. And it is Mi MIX 2S that makes up for this deficiency, offering its owner not only high-quality photo and video shooting, but also many other significant advantages.

The Mi Mix family has always been distinguished by top-end hardware, and this time everything is again at its best: the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 (second only to Samsung’s Exynos 9810), 6 GB of RAM, 64/128 GB of memory (no microSD slot), Adreno 630 adapter.

As a result, we have a beautiful design, a display without frames and “monobrows”, flagship technical stuffing, support for wireless charging, a high-quality camera (much better than that of Mi Mix 2), and in addition, a very convenient case included. Among the shortcomings, it is important to note the lack of water protection and the inconvenient location of the front camera, which also does not have the highest shooting quality.

  • Brilliant speed thanks to the 8-core processor.
  • The rear camera takes great pictures even in low light.
  • The battery life during active use reaches up to 24 hours.
  • The fingerprint scanner works smoothly.
  • Nice design.
  • Bad front camera.
  • Not protected from moisture.

The latest trend in all smartphones, including Xiaomi, of course, is the dual camera mechanism. And in some models the company managed to apply this innovation. The practical meaning of dual cameras is revealed when creating high-quality portraits, 3D shooting and other newfangled photography methods.

It has also become fashionable to use a frameless configuration, when the screen occupies the entire front part of the smartphone, thereby increasing the working area of the display. Xiaomi was able to implement this in its latest flagship models. Naturally, Xiaomi takes great care to ensure that their devices are as productive as possible. This means that they must be equipped with the highest-end hardware. At the same time, the developer does not forget about the budget segment of the market, releasing cheaper, but not so “sophisticated” smartphones.

Advantages and disadvantages of new Xiaomi products in 2018

Probably the most important advantage of gadgets from Xiaomi is the use of its own firmware based on pure Android - MIUI. The software is updated regularly and has a wide range of functionality and capabilities. Optimization of performance and power consumption of the firmware is also at its best.

As always, Xiaomi supplies its devices with good hardware, which generally covers all the needs of even the most demanding user. As for autonomy, it’s difficult to say specifically whether it’s small or not, since some models have batteries with a reserve, while some have a noticeable lack of charge. Also, many users do not always like the work of the newfangled feature - face unlocking. The system does not always work, and in general it is unstable. But perhaps these are software flaws that the company will eventually eliminate and fix in updates.

An unclear trend in smartphones can be considered the use of FullHD formats for gadgets with large diagonals, for example, about 6 inches. With such huge leaps in technology towards development, the highest resolutions can and should be used. Otherwise, Xiaomi smartphones still look bright and innovative compared to even some flagships from well-known brands. Affordable prices, good hardware, and his own vision of software significantly distinguish the developer from others.

Review of the latest Xiaomi phone models 2018

There are not many released or expected models in 2018, but they are there, and it’s worth taking a closer look at them.

Black Shark

This smartphone stands out from the standard Xiaomi lines. And the development belongs, in fact, not to the company itself, but to its partner with active financial assistance.

This is a typical gaming gadget. Moreover, the first 50,000 models, as stated, will come with a free controller for games. Stylistically, the design is noticeably different from the everyday cases of modern smartphones. The back panel has decorative patterns and elements. Right in the middle of the panel there is a diode logo of the company in the form of the letter S, which will notify you of missed calls with its wink. The front part is not much different from most smartphones, although what is different there is a large, 6-inch display covering the entire area of the front part. It is worth noting that the resolution here is 2160×1080.

Inside, a high-performance Snapdragon 845 is installed. Memory configurations can be with 6 or 8 RAM and 64 or 128 GB of its own. A 4000 mAh battery will allow you to play comfortably for 7-8 hours. The operating system used is the yet unknown Joy UI shell, which, in fact, is the successor to Miui. Naturally, the common base was Android 8.0. The smartphone is not yet officially sold in Russia, although it can already be found on some foreign websites. The expected cost of the gadget is 35,000 rubles.

Mi8

New phone model from Xiaomi. In fact, it is the company's flagship. The filling and possibilities are quite interesting. Let's start with the screen. Xiaomi loves large displays, and this smartphone is no exception. The screen diagonal here is 6.21 inches. But the resolution could have been higher - 2248x1080. Although this ratio gives a quite comfortable 400 PPI. All calculations are performed by one of the most powerful mobile processors - Snapdragon 845. This is a chip with a configuration of 4 cores: for heavy tasks the frequency is 2.8 GHz, for less expensive ones - 1.8 GHz. 6 GB of RAM is installed, and this reserve should be enough for a bunch of applications running simultaneously. The newest Android is installed - 8.1. The gadget can work in networks up to 4G. The camera follows the latest trends, therefore it is dual, 12 and 12 MP. Can shoot video in 4K format.

Batteries for such power and screen may seem small. However, things change a little for the better. You can buy a Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone for 34,000 rubles.

Redmi S2

One from Xiaomi. Its price is 13,500 rubles. For such a price, the gadget is well equipped. Large 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1440×720, dual camera with 12 and 5 MP with the ability to shoot in FullHD at 30 frames/s. The Snapdragon 625 processor with 8 cores also performs well. There is more than enough RAM - 4 GB. The battery is a little let down; here it is only 3080 mAh. Android is the latest - 8.1.

Redmi Note 5 Pro

Despite its cost of 19,000 rubles, the smartphone can compete with the flagship and not only from Xiaomi. Although the Redmi line is not replete with top solutions in terms of hardware, this model is still capable of surprising. The 8-core Snapdragon 636 with built-in Adreno 509 graphics core is responsible for the performance here. The RAM installed is simply fantastic for such a price - 6 GB. There is not much of your own memory, but for the first time it should be enough - 64 GB. The battery is also good - 4000 mAh, coupled with fast charging function. Considering the gluttony of hardware and the 6-inch screen, such a charge should be enough for at least a day. There are 2 SIM cards in the smartphone, and they can work in 4G networks.

Comparison of the main Xiaomi phone ranges

Some electronics designers use clear and accessible diagrams to classify their devices, while others may use complex and confusing techniques. The same can be said about Xiaomi. But if you look a little, everything falls into place, and the designations of gadgets tell a lot about their characteristics.

Well, let's start with the theory. There are two main lines from which the branching of “sub-lines” and models begins: Mi and Redmi. They represent two polar worlds: one uses the most top-end solutions, the second, on the contrary, uses the lowest possible hardware. Mi and Redmi, in turn, are also divided into “sub-lines” or series, which also have their own differences.

Features of the Xiaomi Mi smartphone line

Mi is designed to embody the best solutions of the company. Models in the line are usually not inferior to, and sometimes even superior to, flagships from many world famous brands. This is expressed in almost everything: in design, assembly, hardware and software. Further, the Mi series is again divided into simply Mi, Mi Note, Mi Max and Mi Mix. Let's look at them a little. In the general ranking of Xiaomi Mi smartphones, they are usually in the first positions.

Xiaomi Mi phone series

  1. It's just that Mi is usually not represented by the largest displays, usually about 5 inches. The design is most often simple and concise. Mi is essentially a model from which more advanced models then spread.
  2. Mi Note is a generation of smartphones with displays from 5.7 inches, that is, full-fledged phablets. Such gadgets are usually not appreciated by everyone because of their large size. As for hardware, here it is also represented by the best solutions and new products.
  3. Mi Max are smartphones that are even larger than the Note. Although they are not officially classified as such, they are still full-fledged tablets with phone functions.
  4. The Mi Mix series includes the most innovative solutions. If there is the most powerful processor, it will be here; if it appears, it will be installed immediately. That is, Mix is a line for gadget lovers and those who like to be the first to experience new products in the industry.

Features of the Xiaomi Redmi model range

Redmi usually includes budget solutions and models. Accordingly, in this line of phones there are only simple gadgets that are accessible to almost everyone. Naturally, you shouldn’t count on super performance and perfect execution.

Which Xiaomi to choose, according to the editors

Probably the most interesting solution will be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 model with 4 GB of RAM. Firstly, the screen here is captivating. 6-inch IPS with a resolution of 1920x1080. Secondly, the level of performance is at its best, considering how much the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 ultimately costs. Snapdragon 636 with 8 cores, a solid supply of RAM, which will last for at least 2-3 days before applications begin to eat up even more of it. Not a bad 4000 mAh battery. And all this is available for 14,500 rubles. What other smartphone can boast such a price-quality-performance ratio? Naturally, which Xiaomi is better to buy remains up to the user. Everyone has different budgets, interests and requirements too. But, in our opinion, the best combination of all parameters without overpaying will be Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. If you have your own opinion about any of the models presented in the article, feel free to share it in the comments.

Don't want to overpay for expensive flagships? Feel free to choose Xiaomi smartphones, they have almost top-end characteristics and are sold at a very low price. Below we have compiled a rating of the best models of the brand, and also shared the latest information about upcoming new Xiaomi products.

What will Xiaomi smartphones be like in 2018-2019?

Xiaomi Redmi 5

At the end of 2017, the Chinese giant first presented to the public a new generation of the Redmi line. At the moment, the smartphone is already on sale at a price of $180. The key feature of the gadget is the presence of a large widescreen 5.7-inch display, something like this has never been seen in any Xiaomi budget phone.

Of course, the design of Redmi 5 has changed dramatically, this is especially noticeable when compared with the previous model in the line. The usual navigation keys have completely disappeared from the front panel, their functions have been transferred to the screen. Externally, the budget phone is very similar to the frameless LG G6. But at the back of the smartphone there have been minimal changes; here you will find the usual fingerprint scanner and a 12-megapixel camera slightly protruding above the body.

The highlight of the program, the 5.7-inch display has a regular IPS matrix with FullHD resolution. Subjectively, the screen looks a little better compared to previous Redmi budget phones. Its colors are more saturated and viewing angles are maximum. The display itself is protected by tempered Corning Gorilla Glass 5, it is completely resistant to minor damage and scratches. There is an oleophobic coating.

Redmi 5 has one of the most balanced Qualcomm processors - Snapdragon 625. This chipset has a very good price-quality ratio and is used in most mid-price smartphones. In the synthetic AnTuTu benchmark, the processor scores about 55 thousand points. The Adreno 506 chip is responsible for processing graphics here. We have already been able to test the new product in games, and we can fully recommend it to gamers as a cheap device for gaming.

The new generation of Redmi did not receive the main innovation that fans of the brand have been waiting for so long - a dual camera. Redmi 5 received only one 12-megapixel photo module with an f/2.2 aperture on the rear panel. A simple 5-megapixel photosensor is used as the front camera. The photo quality has not gone very far since its predecessor; the new product is unlikely to replace a mid-price smartphone in this regard.

Xiaomi Mi7

The flagship Mi6 became a real hit last year, the smartphone even received the unofficial status of “people's” thanks to its relatively low price. Today we already have the first details about the next generation of the main line of Xiaomi smartphones.

So, the new product will receive a frameless widescreen display that will occupy the maximum possible area of the front panel. Judging by preliminary renderings, the future flagship will be somewhat reminiscent of the already released Mi Mix 2. The main functional elements (earpiece, front camera, sensors) will be located in a small insert on the front panel. The gadget will also receive the yet to be released flagship Snapdragon 845 processor and support for wireless charging. The official presentation of Mi7 should be expected at the end of February. The new product will presumably go on sale in the spring.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3

Just recently, the not yet released Xiaomi Mi Max 3 appeared in the first live photographs. A photo of the new phablet appeared on the profile resource SlashLeaks, which specializes in collecting a wide variety of leaks. The photo shows the front panel and the upper end of the device. According to insiders, the new product will receive a 6.99-inch frameless display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Presumably, the screen resolution will be 2160 x 1080 pixels. The gadget will also lose the 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port will appear on the bottom edge.

Another nice innovation of the phablet is the dual main camera. Two 12 megapixel photo modules will be placed directly above the fingerprint scanner. The gadget's hardware platform is based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will also receive 4 GB of RAM. The estimated price of the new item is about $250.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

The first generation of Mi Mix became the subject of heated discussion, delight and censure of users. You can see the fruits of Xiaomi’s risky step yourself; the trend for frameless smartphones became the main one in 2017 and will remain so in 2018-2019. In Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, the manufacturer corrected most of its own mistakes and made the smartphone exactly the way users would like it to be. What will the third generation of the line be like?

While there is no exact data, we can only rely on fragmentary information from insiders within the company. So, the future gadget will receive a widescreen 7-inch display, which will occupy most of the front panel of the device. Presumably, the display resolution will be QuadHD+, and the yet-to-be-released top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor will serve as the basis of the hardware platform.

Xiaomi Mi6X

Almost immediately after the publication of renders of the manufacturer’s next flagship, an unknown insider gained access to the first images of the not yet released Mi6X smartphone. As you can see in the photo, the new product will receive a dual main camera in the manner of the iPhone 8, the lenses are located on a vertical platform.

The Mi6X does not have a fingerprint scanner; instead, on the back panel you can see a small hole of unknown purpose. According to rumors, the new product will receive a 5.1-inch FullHD display, 6/64 GB of memory and a 4-megapixel front camera. More details should be expected at the official presentation of the Mi6X at the end of February.

Top 5 best budget Xiaomi smartphones of 2017

Xiaomi Redmi 5A

  • Screen: IPS, 5” HD;
  • Memory: 2/16 GB;
  • Camera: main – 13 MP, front – 6 MP.

As befits a true Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi attracts the buyer with the most attractive thing - a low price. The budget Redmi 5A will cost you no more than a hundred dollars, while the gadget can offer excellent build quality, good (for this price category) performance and quite good cameras.

Another reason to pay attention to this budget phone is the IPS matrix of its display. With a very limited cost, the manufacturer managed to achieve a good level of color rendering with the correct display of shades. Thanks to the 4xx series processor from Snapdragon, the device also copes well with a variety of user tasks (including casual games). You can buy it on Player.ru.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A

  • Screen: IPS, 5.5” HD;
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 (1.4 GHz);
  • Memory: 2/16 GB;

The Note version of the cheapest Xiaomi smartphone has a larger display (5.5 inches) and a battery with a larger capacity. The gadget will definitely appeal to those who adore phablets, but are not ready to overpay significant amounts for them. The only drawback of the device is its rather boring design, which is completely copied from the Redmi 5A.

However, under the discreet appearance of the device lies one of the best budget processors. In the overall ranking of the AnTuTu synthetic benchmark, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A received 45 thousand points, which is quite enough for comfortable everyday use of the smartphone without lags or slowdowns. The smartphone's camera also deserves special praise; it can take clear pictures even in poor lighting conditions.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A

Xiaomi Mi 5C

  • Screen: IPS, 5.15” FullHD;
  • Processor: Surge S1 (1.4 GHz);
  • Memory: 3/64 GB;
  • Camera: main – 12 MP, front – 8 MP.

Mi 5C is a kind of whole experiment for Xiaomi. Let us remind you that this is the manufacturer’s first device with a proprietary processor inside. The Surge S1 CPU has a maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz and performs very well in synthetic benchmarks. However, under significant load the device still heats up quite noticeably, which can cause throttling. To avoid the latter, there is a special item in the smartphone settings to limit the operation of the SoC.

The gadget's screen has FullHD resolution, pixel density is 417 units per inch. Xiaomi Mi 5C boasts good color reproduction, although at large viewing angles the shades are slightly distorted towards cool tones. The built-in 2860 mAh battery provides up to 1.5 days of normal operation without recharging.

Xiaomi Redmi 4X

  • Screen: IPS, 5” HD;
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 (1.4 GHz);
  • Memory: 2/16 GB;
  • Camera: main – 13 MP, front – 5 MP.

Xiaomi Redmi 4X is the latest mainstream model in the budget line of smartphones with a 5-inch screen. The gadget received a standard design, which dates back to the time of the second generation Redmi. The smartphone also has an infrared port, which can be used to control compatible home appliances.

The state employee is available in several versions, the youngest received standard 2/16 GB of memory, there is a combined slot for microSD memory cards. Another advantage of the Xiaomi Redmi 4X is a fairly capacious 4100 mAh battery, which provides up to 3-4 days of operation in normal mode. You can buy it on Player.ru.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2

  • Screen: IPS, 44” FullHD;
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (0 GHz);
  • Memory: 4/64 GB;
  • Camera: main – 12 MP, front – 5 MP.

The first generation Mi Max managed to win the hearts of loyal Xiaomi fans, so the company decided not to stop there. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a large 6.44-inch display with FullHD resolution and a mid-priced hardware platform. The dimensions of the device are its main plus and minus - the large screen is very informative, but not everyone will like such a large phablet.

Yandex.Zen, well, for one thing, give it a like (thumbs up) for your efforts. Thank you!

On May 31, Xiaomi held a big presentation in Shenzhen. They showed new flagships and sub-flagships, the long-awaited Mi Band fitness bracelet, a new TV, and finally released a VR headset developed jointly with Oculus.

MIUI 10

We started the presentation with the proprietary shell for smartphones and tablets. May is an important month for Xiaomi. It is at this time that the company usually announces its main product. After all, many people associate Xiaomi with MIUI.

The main feature of MIUI 10 is working with artificial intelligence. It is everywhere: in maps, in a calculator, in an alarm clock. It also works in the system itself: it adapts to external factors and changes its design. For example, in the evening the menu design becomes darker.

And if it’s raining outside, the lock screen will appear to be covered with drops. Beautiful and impressive. We also worked on notifications. If your sound is not muted, and dozens of notifications arrive at the same time, their sound will change. It sounds natural and less intrusive.

The rest of the features of artificial intelligence outside of China are of little interest, so I will not pay special attention to it.

MIUI 10 has been significantly redrawn. Many people compare the appearance with Android P and, in principle, this is appropriate: the shell is looking more and more like a stock operating system. And it seems right. People will not see a strong difference between the stock and the shell, while all the good little things of MIUI, of which there are a lot, will remain.

MIUI 10 has also become faster than its predecessor. Well, that goes without saying.

Mi 8

The new Xiaomi flagship turned out to be quite boring. With every minute of the presentation, my face became sadder and sadder: good hardware, but the design is straight out of an iPhone! Xiaomi, what's up?

From a hardware point of view, the smartphone really turned out to be interesting. The processor is top-end, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Three versions of the smartphone will be available for sale. All with 6 GB LPDDR4X memory. Buyers will have to choose between three options with different amounts of UFS 2.1 memory: 64, 128 and 256 gigabytes. All this helps the smartphone score a record 301,472 points in AnTuTu. But do you need this figure?

Design

Dimensions of the smartphone: 154.9 × 74.8 × 7.6 mm. Weight: 175 grams. The dimensions are identical to a smartphone with a 5.5-inch display with a “classic” 16:9 aspect ratio.

86.68% of the front panel is occupied by a 6.01-inch AMOLED display. The aspect ratio is 18.7:9. Its maximum brightness is 600 nit. DCI-P3 color gamut. Contrast: 60000:1. Very worthy.

The glass on the sides is slightly curved like the Samsung S9:

Camera

The main camera consists of two 12-megapixel modules. The sensors were not named, but the pixel size is 1.4 µm. Either Xiaomi does not think to use any specific sensor, or a similar one is used in cheaper models.

Smartphone with four-axis optical stabilization. The first module is wide-angle. Its aperture is F/1.8. The second is a telephoto lens with F/2.4 aperture.

Xiaomi Mi 8 is especially good in blue

The camera has already been highly rated in DxOMark, scoring 105 points for its photographic capabilities. Above iPhone X. Overall score - 99.

At the presentation they did not hesitate to compare Xiaomi Mi 8 with iPhone X

The agency praised the camera's exposure and wide dynamic range, neutral white balance, fast autofocus and attractive bokeh.

We also paid attention to artificial intelligence that works together with the camera. It is capable of recognizing 25 modes and 206 scenes. Among them are portraits, food, cars, landscapes, etc. Sample pictures:

The front camera also supports artificial intelligence. It recognizes faces and can “improve” them. And this mode has become smarter! Now there will be no unnatural improvements. Only AI, only hardcore! There is also the good old HDR mode.

The front camera takes pictures at 20 megapixels. Aperture F/2.0. The sensor is also unknown, but the pixel size is known - 1.8 µm. Sample pictures:

Other features

The smartphone is powered by a 3400 mAh battery. There is support for Quick Charge 4.0+ fast charging, but the included 18-watt charger only supports the third version. For what?

There is no 3.5 mm jack. It wasn’t even worth waiting for it after Mi 6. Sound is transmitted either via USB-C or Bluetooth. By the way, it supports the AptX codec, so you can listen to lossless formats without problems.

NFC is available. By the way, Xiaomi launched its own payment system in China, so contactless payments will soon appear even in the company’s budget models. But whether it will work with Android Pay is a question.

Xiaomi Mi 8 is the first smartphone with dual-band GPS. It supports L1+L5 frequencies. All this is done so that your location is determined even more accurately:

The prices announced were such that there was applause in the hall during the presentation: a little more than $420 for the junior version. The cheapest smartphone with 845 snap! The 6/128 GB version can be purchased for $470, and the 6/256 GB costs $515. Even OnePlus 6 costs a hundred dollars. The smartphone is available in black, white, blue and gold colors:

At this moment, the audience became sad: the leaks promised an in-display scanner and a transparent back cover. Lei Jun, head of Xiaomi, seeing this, said a few cherished words:

Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition

And this smartphone became one of the most interesting moments of the presentation: the transparent cover! It doesn't have a fingerprint scanner! A boring event immediately became interesting.

Yes, such a design is very much for everyone (I am among them). Geek apparatus. One color. The equipment is also the same.

The display and hardware are almost identical to the regular Mi 8. The only difference is the presence of a fingerprint scanner in the screen:

In general, Xiaomi has become the second company after Vivo to release a smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner. And this is very cool.

Safety

In addition to the scanner, the smartphone also received a reasonable unibrow. If other Android manufacturers place it only because of the desire to enlarge the screen, and there is nowhere to put the speaker and front camera, then here for the first time a complete analogue of Apple’s Face ID is used. Xiaomi decided not to worry and called it very original: Face ID.

The smartphone can be unlocked even in complete darkness. You can’t deceive with a photo like this:

It uses some structured 3D technology that projects a special pattern onto the face:

According to it, in fact, the smartphone recognizes the user even in complete darkness.

The smartphone will be sold only in the 8/256 GB version. In China it will be available for $580. The sales start date has not yet been announced.

Xiaomi Mi 8SE

The company's sub-flagship became the first smartphone on the new processor. This is a very good processor, in many ways superior to last year's flagship Snapdragon 835.

The smartphone turned out to be quite compact by modern standards:

The smartphone has a 5.88-inch AMOLED display. It is protected by 2.5D glass.

The smartphone came out more square compared to the usual “eight”. You could probably even call it a “chisel.”

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE received a dual main camera module. The first module is 12 megapixels. Pixel size - 1.4 µm. The second module is five megapixels. The camera has dual phase detection autofocus. There is support for artificial intelligence. They didn't say anything more about the main camera. Sample pictures:

The front camera here is 20 megapixels. The sensor pixel size is 2 µm. It also supports artificial intelligence.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE will be available to customers in four colors: black, gold, red and blue.

The smartphone received a 3120 mAh battery with support for fast charging. Buyers will be able to choose between 4 and 6 gigabytes of RAM. But you won’t be able to choose a permanent one. Only 64 GB.

The smartphone will go on sale in China on June 8. The younger version there will cost 280 dollars, and the older one - a little more than 310.

75″ Mi TV4

Xiaomi has also rolled out a new TV. Diagonal - 75 inches. 4K, HDR support. 2 gigabytes of RAM and 32 GB of storage. Costs $1400. Very cool!

Mi VR

The Xiaomi VR headset, developed jointly with Oculus, is finally going on sale. Two versions: 32 and 64 GB. Prices are $235 and $280.

Mi Band 3

But many people were waiting for this part of the presentation. If many people are not particularly interested in Xiaomi smartphones, then the company’s fitness tracker is a very worthy thing.

The bracelet has a 0.78-inch OLED touch display and 5 ATM moisture protection. With it you can dive to a depth of 50 meters! It is very serious.

Using Mi Band 3 you can answer calls and read messages. Yes, this is no longer a fitness bracelet, but an entire smart watch!

The standard version costs $26. There is also a version with NFC for 30. Yes, you can pay with a fitness bracelet in a store even if your smartphone does not have NFC! Xiaomi has made a gift to all non-Chinese users.

The presentation turned out to be very eventful. In just over two hours they presented a bunch of products at once. As a technology fan, I was amazed by the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition: an in-display scanner, an analogue of Face ID. I think I know what my next smartphone will be.

What do you think of the new Xiaomi products?

The wide range and quality of products in the field of smartphones have allowed Xiaomi to take a leading position in the market. The manufacturer offers gadgets for almost every taste and budget. From budget dialers to frameless flagships with a screen that occupies almost 100% of the front panel. Fans of stylish design and high-quality photos will also not be left out.

Xiaomi Mi7 - flagship of the year

There is no doubt that the flagship version will receive all the most advanced and modern. First of all, it is worth mentioning the processor, because it is fundamental to every smartphone. There is little doubt that the phone will have the advanced Snapdragon 845 processor, which will also appear this year. According to official information, it will receive eight powerful 3rd generation Kryo cores. It will be complemented by 6 and 8 GB of RAM. The choice of configuration will depend on the amount of built-in storage: 64/128/256 GB.

The very large 5.65" display will have an aspect ratio of 9:18 with a resolution of 1080x1920 FullHD. Thin frames around the perimeter of the screen will allow you to classify the device as “frameless”.

Of the most significant features, it is worth mentioning a dual camera with optical stabilization and Bokeh effect. It is likely that there will be user facial recognition and wireless charging.

According to the latest data, the release date of Xiaomi Mi 7 is scheduled for 03.18. Of course, no one gives guarantees, since there have been cases of postponement of the announcement of flagships.

Mi Mix 3 - continuation of the line of frameless phablets

The Mix line of frameless smartphones has made a splash in the market. However, not everyone was happy with the latest model released. What to expect from the 3rd generation, bug fixes or a brand new device?!

The 6-inch OLED matrix with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 Full HD+ plans to cover 97% of the front of the device. It will also have a 16MP dual camera that allows you to take stunning photos with a blurred background effect. The body will be made according to modern trends: glass and metal.

The most interesting innovation may be the fingerprint scanner located under the display. Technology is no longer a myth. It’s too early to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the method, but one thing can be said - the function deserves attention.

Mi Max 3

The Max series is known for its use of the largest screens possible. The entire line had displays larger than 6 inches. The 3rd version is unlikely to be an exception; a 6.99” matrix by 2160x1080 pixels is expected. This will not increase the dimensions; most likely the increase will occur due to the reduction of the frames around the perimeter.

Based on the insider photos that have appeared, we can talk about an aluminum body, 12 MP dual optics with Bokeh effect and a standard fingerprint scanner on the back side.

While not a flagship, the smartphone will have an average-performance Snapdragon 660 processor. A nice feature may be a battery with a capacity of 5500 mAh.

The release date of Mi Max 3 has not yet been determined, most likely the announcement will take place in the spring of this year.

Redmi Note 5 is an inexpensive smartphone with solid potential

The company quite often updates budget models, equipping them with not the latest features. The fifth model in the line, like a number of others, will receive a 5.99” LCD with 2160 x 1080 pixels Full HD+. The modern trend has become the presence of two cameras, Note 5 is no exception.

It is planned to release two modifications: Snapdragon 630 with 3GB of RAM and Snapdragon 636 with 4GB of memory, respectively. A 4000 mAh battery will be enough to power the hardware. The volume of built-in storage will be 32 and 64GB.

The presentation of the device is expected at the end of February this year.

Redmi 6 is a revolutionary and affordable smartphone

Inexpensive Xiaomi smartphones are far from being “dialers”, but functional and advanced phones. What can we expect from the sixth generation?

Improving a “state employee” is a difficult and thankless task. The final cost of the product imposes restrictions on the choice of components and functions. The sixth series will inherit the previous IPS matrix of 1440 x 720 pixels.

The smartphone will be powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 630 processor with a frequency of 2.2 GHz. The gadget will be equipped with two memory options: 16 and 32 GB and 3 GB of RAM.

The appearance of a dual main camera module is quite possible. Its parameters, as well as the frontal one, remain unknown. The fingerprint scanner will also be located on the back of the case.

Redmi 6 is planned to be released in the fourth quarter of 2018.
