When Egor and Nelly, as students, were thinking about their own business in 2012, they did not yet know what field of business to go into. The answer came by itself. The demand for printing products among friends and acquaintances pushed young people to save 300 thousand and open the first office of the future Copy Paste printing house. The guys started by printing small orders for business cards, leaflets and other paper products.

Over the course of six years, a small copy center has grown into an advertising and production company that is ready to provide full-cycle services and knows how to implement any ideas of its clients. Copy Paste now has its own staff of designers, printers and managers, as well as an office in the city center, a two-story production workshop and ambitious plans for growth in the local market.

Today, the company's production facilities allow us to produce any printed and souvenir products, outdoor advertising or uniforms, develop a corporate identity and manufacture all related products.

Egor Trifonov

We have combined different types of production under one roof - this saves our clients time and money, they do not have to look for different contractors for different tasks. Our capabilities are a consistent arrangement of technologies. The client comes to us with his ideas, and we already figure out how to implement them. There are simple and clear orders. But sometimes the client only has an idea or a general idea of what should happen in the end. And our designers and workshop specialists develop layouts and select technologies with which the idea can be realized.

It all starts with an idea

The path of the future product begins in the printing office. This is where clients come - in person or remotely - to place orders or voice ideas.

At the first stage, the details and scope of the application are clarified: will it be printing personal business cards or developing a corporate identity for the company, which involves a combination of several types of work at once.

For example, a young entrepreneur opened his own coffee shop. In Copy Paste he will be asked to bring his undertaking to a common denominator of style and brand - develop a unique design and print business cards, gift cards, menus, badges, brand the counter and staff uniforms, make an illuminated sign, print a banner, etc. And all this - in one workshop. The main thing is that the client’s desire is understandable and embodied.

At the same time, designers are closely connected with production and understand its technological processes. The client will not be offered a layout that is not suitable for the chosen printing method, or even one that cannot be produced.

When the client and designer find a common language, and all layouts are agreed upon, the order is sent for production.

Printing shop

The layout created by the designer turns into a technical specification - with a detailed description of the final product that the client wants to receive. In this form, the order enters production. And then it’s a matter of technology.

Printing is the “theatrical hanger” with which any printing house begins. Once upon a time, it all began with Copy Paste. Now this workshop here occupies the entire first floor. The end of the year is a busy time for printing. Calendars, New Year's souvenirs, and gift wrapping are printed here.

The main “worker” of the workshop is the professional digital printing machine Konica Minolta C1060. Unlike conventional office printers, this machine is capable of printing thousands of vibrant color images without loss of quality. After printing, the products are sent for post-printing processing. Basically, all rectangular products are cut on a guillotine.

If you need to make a book or magazine, a hot glue machine comes into play and makes the binding. If it is a notebook or calendar, holes are made in it using an industrial punch and then stapled using a semi-automatic booklet maker. On it, the spring tape from the reel enters the machine, which itself counts the required number of loops, strings the product and crimps it.

Also, depending on the order, a folding machine, a booklet maker and a professional industrial laminator can complete the preparation of the product. The latter, by the way, appeared in the printing house only this year and is a very valuable acquisition.

And if the client needs non-standard products, for example, gift boxes of an unusual shape, then they can be cut out on a flatbed plotter. Such things are already assembled by hand.

Egor Trifonov

We always try to fulfill the order when the client needs it. These are the features of typographic work. We are ready to go out into the night and work around the clock. Sometimes such emergency orders happen. For example, a client came in the evening, and by the morning he already needs to receive a large order. And we always meet halfway and always find a way out to maintain our reputation.

Silk-screen printing and souvenir production workshop

The silk screen printing workshop is constantly noisy and warm due to working hoods and drying machines. The ancient Chinese method of applying a pattern using thin fabric is used here. Previously it was silk. Modern technologies use synthetic materials.

Silk-screen printers, using pre-exposed forms (frames on which “canvases” are stretched), apply paint to the canvas or product - color by color. This type of printing requires intermediate drying to apply each subsequent color. The very last one will be drawing black as an outline if needed.

You can print on textiles - T-shirts, sweatshirts, windbreakers - on a “carousel”, or “helicopter”, as it is called in the professional community. This machine has six printing tables for applying images to textiles. After each color is applied, the frames with paint are changed, and the products undergo pre-drying. Then all six products are sent to a tunnel oven, where the design is “baked” and becomes stable. The subtlety of this technology is that each new color falls into its place when applied. To prevent the textile from moving during the printing process, it is glued to the printing table with special glue.

Also, using silk-screen printing on a flat-bed printing press, you can apply patterns to various other objects - for example, umbrellas, diaries or branded bags.

The possibilities for creating unique products do not end there. An order for business and promotional souvenirs at a printing house can also be completed using the sublimation method - transferring paint under pressure and temperature to the product.

There is also a pad printing machine here - practically a “veteran” of the workshop. He has been working in the workshop for four years. With its help, images are applied to pens, power banks, bottle caps, keychains, flash drives and other small items.

Its disadvantage is that it prints incomplete-color images - up to two colors. But it does an excellent job with logos, inscriptions and simple pictures.

The most modern equipment in the workshop is laser and ultraviolet. The laser engraving machine can cut and engrave acrylic, plastic and plywood. Cups, signs, badges and much more are produced here. And an ultraviolet printer allows you to make really very bright and high-quality, “live” prints. Using flexible ink on a UV printer, you can produce the most unusual souvenirs with full-color images on them.

Egor Trifonov

Often, in order to make a product required by a customer, it is necessary to apply several technologies at once. For example, if you need to make a beautiful New Year's house, first a laser cuts out its parts, then an ultraviolet printer applies a design, then the product is glued together by hand.

Large format printing workshop

A separate line of production is large-format printing and the production of advertising structures. If the client wishes, a wide-format printer can print a canvas up to 50 meters long and 3.2 meters wide. However, if you need it even longer, that’s not a problem; after professional gluing of the products, the seams will be almost invisible.

The first large-format eco-solvent printer, which appeared in the printing house back in 2013, works perfectly to this day. Yegor Trifonov has a funny story connected with his appearance.

The record holder for copying things from the catwalks, Zara did not hesitate to adopt from Prada the concept of how a girl should look this fall: a skirt below the knee, high heels, a knitted sweater and, of course, a neat thin belt with a bow at the waist.

2. Burberry and Topshop

A warm Burberry sheepskin coat, judging by the information on the Net-a-porter website, costs at least 3,000 euros. Its analogue in Topshop will cost 10 times less. they understand everything and buy the latter without hesitation. And who didn’t have sheepskin jackets this season? Another question is why these British brands turned out to be the most similar?

3. Dries Van Noten and River Island

A trench coat is not something that can be said with confidence to have been copied. The classic Burberry beige trench coat is reproduced season after season in both Topshop and Zara. But it’s still impossible to pass by the River Island trench coat without remembering the autumn collection of Dries Van Noten.

4. Burberry and Topshop

Philip Green, the owner of Topshop, continues to be invited to the Burberry Prorsum shows and seated in the front row. Topshop's synthetic fur ankle boots are a blatant flattery to Christopher Bailey.

5. Proenza Schouler and Topshop

If it were possible to make a rating of the most copied bags (in this case we are not talking about replicas), then hardly anyone could beat the PS1 model from Proenza Schouler. Again, all this could be justified: for example, the general flirtation with the notorious preppy style. But similar straps, accessories and clasps still desperately give away those who copied them.

6. Chloe and Zara

Everyone has somehow come to terms with the fact that sweatpants can be worn not only for jogging. At the Chloe show, they could be seen in combination with a formal coat and a knitted sweater. And if the model from Zara had not been so blatantly similar (both high waist and gathered at the bottom of the leg), it is unlikely that anyone would have been able to draw at least some parallels with the creation of Hannah McGibbon.

7. Reed Krakoff and Topshop

This season gives no rest to either expensive or affordable brands. Twin sheepskin coats can be seen in H&M, Burberry, and Zara. But if you look closely, the Topshop shearling coat from the fall lookbook looks suspiciously like the one from the Reed Krakoff show.

8. Akris and H&M

A gray wrap coat can be worn in different ways: with a leather belt or with a belt in the same color as the coat. Actually, this is the only difference between two things: an inexpensive Swedish brand and an expensive Swiss one.

9. 3.1 Phillip Lim and H&M

Sand shades have occupied leading positions in various ratings for more than a year. And before the FW 2010 shows, it was clear which coat color would become the most popular in the upcoming season. We saw beige capes, raincoats and coats at Chloe, Alexander Wang, and Celine. However, among all this diversity, the 3.1 Phillip Lim coat stood out with its knee length, correct fit and black piping. After H&M's autumn lookbook, it became clear that you don't have to spend 1,500 euros to purchase it. In addition, the version from a democratic brand also includes pockets and a loose collar.
